●What is the remedy for shortness of breath, it scares me sometime. I’m 35 weeks now.
Firstly, the growing baby inside the womb [uterus] commonly contributes to shortness of breath in pregnancy especially the second trimester.
Additionally during pregnancy there are some changes in the way the heart functions and pumps blood, this can also cause breathlessness.
Generally the amount of blood in a woman’s body increases significantly during pregnancy.
To explain further, pregnancy hormone stimulate your brain to increase the frequency and depth of your breaths, so you take in more oxygen for your growing baby-to-be.
Also,those hormones also swell the capillaries in your respiratory tract and relax the muscles of the lungs making you feel like you’re sucking wind after a trip to the fridge.
So, here is the deal, though you can’t completely relieve this common pregnancy symptom, there are some things you can do to help ease it a little bit:
1● Stand as straight as you can. Proper posture gives your lungs a little more room to do their job.
3● Sleep propped up on your left side, which is the best position for circulation.
3● You can definitely still go about your daily activities and continue exercising during pregnancy.
4● Just listen to your body and don’t push yourself too hard.
5●Whenever you can, take it easy (you deserve it!).
